The 2023 Sénéjac has a somehow "distant" bouquet that requires aeration to open up, with graphite/pencil shavings littered over the light black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a bright, slightly bitter entry that at least has decent tension. It is not a powerful Haut-Médoc—quite linear, strict and classical in style. I don't quite engage with this Sénéjac as much as other vintages, yet it evidences thoughtful winemaking and should broaden out during barrel-maturation. This may end up at the top of my banded score.

The 2022 Sénéjac, which has had the guidance of Jean-Michel Laporte (Château Talbot) in recent years, was picked September 12-29 and aged in 30% new oak. It has a perfumed bouquet with red berry fruit, cedar and blood orange scents. More graphite notes emerge with time and impart a Pauillac-like flair. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins and a silver bead of acidity. The oak feels polished, but not overbearing, thereby allowing the finish to really shine. This is a wonderful Haut-Médoc, one of the best wines that I have tasted from the estate

A blend based on 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2023 Sénéjac exhibits notes of dark berries, red cherries and pipe tobacco, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and fleshy palate that's bright, supple and charming. It's a strong effort.
